Before you decide to come here to LAN I need people to RSVP so I can get a good head count. If no one RSVPs then the event will be cancelled. Please use the CONTACT link to RSVP or for any questions or concerns.

IMPORTANT:  I am not responsible for any damage or loss to your hardware or data because you move your system to the LAN location. Additionally, be pro-active in securing your stuff while at this event. I am NOT your personal security guard. Even more additionally (yes, I said it), if you have something you don't want others to see or find out, then remove it, back it up or just plain delete it from your PC. If you decide to share files, make sure you don't have anything personal you may pass to others by accident.
Must have all virus definitions up-to-date BEFORE you come to play...no protection, no connection!
Must have a vehicle...I don't have a taxi service, use the one on base instead
Bring food and drinks to share with others
No kids under 18 allowed without a guardian present! On that same note, no kids under 15 period!
You must have the games to be played or you can purchase them at the BX (mods and patches will be available by me)
Smoking is NOT allowed while playing...You can puff your cancer sticks at designated areas
All adult material must be removed from your system
No cheating hacks for any game are allowed
Act in a responsible and mature way and show good sportsmanship
You are responsible for your actions and equipment
If you are caught cheating (ghosting your opponents) you will not continue to participate...don't ask stupid questions
Do not attempt to steal anything from anyone
Racist comments, excessive profanity and just plain rudeness is grounds enough to get you kicked out!
DO NOT BRING ANY LCD BIGGER THAN 23 INCHES...DON'T BITCH AND COMPLAIN IF YOU CANNOT COME...READ BELOW!
I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANYONE FROM THE EVENT FOR ANY REASON...so, SUCK IT!

Anyone caught breaking any of these rules will be unceremoniously asked to leave and/or will be shot on sight! Which ever comes first.

Tower PC with LCD (maximum LCD size is 23 inches) or Laptop
A/C cables for your monitor/PC or Laptop
Mouse/Keyboard or any other input gaming device
Headsets...SPEAKERS ARE NOT ALLOWED!
Batteries for mouse/keyboard, etc...
Games to be played
Minimum 14' CAT 5 cable with 100Mbps card or 54Mbps "G" wireless card (108Mbps/802.11n "N" card prefered)
Power Strip (long enough cable or extension)
Bags, blank media and any mods or maps you want to share with all

Here's a checklist (.docx) you may want to use to verify you have everything you need.

For the love of anything that is holy to you, bring a PC that is FAST enough for the games to be played. If you bring something slow then do not complain about not being able to play. You need something with 2Ghz, 512mb video card and at least 2GB memory. Anything lower than this will have a hard time keeping up. DO NOT BRING A NONE-DUAL CPU OR YOU'LL BE RIDICULED!

Prefered system requirements: Dual Core CPU 2.6GHz or higher, 4GB Memory or higher, 1GB DDR3 Video Card or higher.

Also, Defrag your hard disk the night before the event. This will make the seek time quicker.

Upgrade your memory...if you have 256MB of memory its not enought to run the today's simplest programs even 512MB of memory is not enough anymore depending on what applications you're running, and this is specially true if you run a Dual Core CPU and if your video card is integrated with the motherboard (shared = sad). This means that your memory is being used to run the O/S, video, audio, antivirus, any other system functions that happened on the background and anything else that you have an icon in the task bar on top of any video processing which it all takes away from the memory.

Purchase 2GBs or higher of what ever the max Front Side Bus (FSB) you mobo can handle. For example, if your mobo accepts a 478 pin CPU (discontinued) your FSB most likely is a 333, 533 or 800MHz (800MHz being the fastest and best module) and this is what you should be looking for in terms of speed of the actual memory stick. The higher the FSB is, the faster the memory will be. Refer to your motherboard's manual or manufacturer website for specs on the max memory size and type that you'll need.

Another thing, if you don't have at least 4GB of SDRAM (memory) then you will not be able to play. You should have at least a Dual Core CPU system by now so, each core requires a big enough memory stick. On a Dual Core, a 2x 1GB sticks (1 stick for each CPU) are needed as minimum but more is better. Other factors should also be taken into concideration, like clock speed (latency). In this case the lower the numbers the faster it is. Just do some research. Newegg is the best to get PC parts but check the BX first in case they have something.

If you don't have this, then just sit there and enjoy the view of us playing. While you're at it, make sure you update your blog and tell all your girlfriends what the real men are doing...UPGRADE SOON OR DIE!

Defrag your Hard Drive...Do this before getting to the event and not during setup. Can't stress this enough. Use Diskeeper Pro or any other 3rd party utility...XPs default defrag program is no good. I will have a defrag program on location if you require one. If running W7 then use the systems defrag utility but its adviced you use something else that will get into those hard-to-reach places where it defragging counts.

Video GPU...Video cards come with a ton of memory nowadays. They also have their own processor and ROM coding to help the CPU process the video coding. If you haven't upgraded your video card lately, then you're not playing any new games. Most of the games we'll be playing are graphics intensive, so upgrade at your own pace or use this LANing event as a good excuse to upgrade. Go, RUN! to the BX and get the card you need. Again, refer to your motherboards manual for correct slot type before you buy.

Update your security program definitions...e.g. Norton, McAfee, Spyware Doctor, Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware etc...and run a system check on before you arrive. Remember, do not do this or defrag at the event if you have a 500GB HDD or bigger. We will not wait for you.

How to make your system run faster...First you have to defrag, my recommended program is DISKEEPER 2009. Second you need to delete all the trash you have accomulated by looking for pr0n and other searches and site visits. A good program to clear your trash from your entire HDD is called TRACK ERASER.

Next, clear unnecessary taskbar programs to release memory. If you only use it every now and then, then why leave it running when you boot up? Go to RUN and type MSCONFIG. Go to the STARTUP tab and uncheck stuff you don't need running, like a scanner, or printer, or google earth or iTunes. Basically anything that is there awaiting possible updates from the host server is already taking up memory you can be using. Unless you have 8GB like I do and still you'll want full power!

Your registry is also the culprit to a slow system. You need a good registry cleaner like REGISTRY CLEANER. CAUTION: if you mess your registry up you will end up re installing everything. Be sure you know what you're doing. I will not be held responsible.

And lastly, a registry defrag program like AUSLOGIC REGISTRY DEFRAG.
